The LSA Schedule Setting Most Contractors Never Touch: Why Your Leads Dry Up Every Weekend

October 13, 2026

Google's Local Services Ads has a setting that decides when your phone can ring and when a lead can only text you. Most contractors never touch it. Then they wonder why leads dry up every Saturday — the exact day a homeowner with a weekend DIY disaster is most ready to book.

What the Schedule Setting Actually Does

Inside your LSA dashboard, under Ad Schedule, you set the hours you're available to take calls and messages. Outside those hours, Google doesn't send you the lead at all — it goes to the next contractor in line who is marked available. If your schedule is set to Monday through Friday, 8 to 5, your weekends are closed to LSA leads completely, even though your phone works fine on a Saturday.

Why This Quietly Kills Weekend Leads

A homeowner doesn't wait for business hours to search for a contractor. The leaky faucet, the AC that died, the fence panel that blew over in a storm — those searches happen whenever the problem happens, including Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon. If your LSA schedule is closed during that window, you're not losing those leads to a competitor who outbid you. You're losing them because Google never even showed you the option.

The Math on a Closed Weekend

Weekends are roughly 2 of every 7 days — almost 30% of the week. If your schedule blocks Saturday and Sunday, you're not missing a small sliver of lead volume, you're missing nearly a third of it, every single week, on autopilot. At roughly $100 a lead with a 15%+ close rate, that's real booked jobs disappearing before you ever see the lead come in.

Setting It Correctly

  • Match your real availability, not your office hours — if you or a team member can take a call on Saturday, your LSA schedule should say so, even if your office is closed.
  • Use after-hours coverage if you have it — if someone answers calls evenings and weekends, open the schedule to match, not just the 9-to-5 window.
  • Check it after every staffing change — a schedule set up two hires ago often doesn't match who's actually answering the phone today.
  • Review it quarterly — the same way you'd check your LSA weekly insights report, put the schedule setting on a recurring check.

Weekend Leads Still Need a Weekend Answer

Opening your schedule only helps if someone actually answers. A weekend lead that rings through to voicemail still closes worse than one a real person picks up — speed-to-lead math doesn't take weekends off either. If you can't staff live answering on weekends, at minimum make sure text-back and booking links are working so The Homeowner isn't left waiting until Monday for a reply.

Not sure what your current LSA schedule is set to, or whether your lead volume lines up with your actual availability? A quick discovery call with our team will tell you exactly where you're leaving leads on the table — weekends included.
