AI VISIBILITY / AEO

Google Gets 3 Words. AI Gets 23.

Homeowners stopped typing "kitchen remodeler near me." They type a paragraph. Budget, house age, permits, timeline. Then they call whoever the AI named. There is no page two. You are in the answer or you do not exist.

RANKED VS. NAMED

SEO Gets You Listed. AI Visibility Gets You Named.

Old search hands back ten blue links and three map pins. The homeowner still has to choose.

ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews, and Perplexity do not hand back options. They hand back an ANSWER. Two names. Sometimes one.

So the question stopped being "where do I rank." The question is: do I get MENTIONED.

THE 3-WORD PROBLEM

You Cannot Build a Page for Every Question.

So stop chasing keywords. Start making sure the internet contains clear, specific, checkable statements about your business.

3–4

THE 3-WORD PROBLEM

A few hundred realistic versions. Kitchen remodeler Fort Myers. Roofer near me. Build a page for each one and you cover most of the market.

23

words in the average AI prompt

Budget, timeline, house age, permits, HOA, insurance, zip code, holiday deadline. Every detail changes the question and changes who gets recommended. Unlimited versions.

It is not complicated work. It is just a lot more to write down. And all of it has to actually be true.

HALF THE WORK: YOU

AI Can Only Recommend You If It Can Describe You.

"Quality craftsmanship since 2004." So does the guy across town. To a machine reading both sites, you two are the same company. And when you are identical, it picks the one with more reviews and more mentions. That is probably not you.

What You Actually Do.

Not "remodeling." Full kitchen gut-and-rebuild. Load-bearing wall removal. Whole-home renovations on 1970s and 1980s builds. Say the REAL work.

Who You Do It For.

Homeowners, not builders. Occupied homes, not new construction. $40K and up, not handyman jobs. Naming your buyer is not turning work away. It is getting picked.

Where.

Named cities and named zip codes. "Southwest Florida and surrounding areas" tells a machine nothing. It tells a homeowner even less.

Your Voice.

How you actually talk to a homeowner in their driveway. Plain and direct. That tone is a signal too. It is what separates a real business from filler.

THE OTHER HALF: THE BUYER

A 62-Year-Old Forever Home Is Not a 34-Year-Old Flip.

Different budget. Different timeline. Different worries. Your content should sound like it was written for one of them on purpose. And it should meet them at the stage they are actually in.

Learning.

"How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Florida in 2026?" They are not calling anybody yet. They are forming an opinion.

Comparing.

"What is the difference between a general contractor and a kitchen remodeler for a wall removal?" Now they are narrowing the list.

Ready.

"Who is the best kitchen remodeler in Fort Myers for a $45,000 job with permit work?" That is the one that turns into a phone call.

Most contractor sites have nothing for the first two and one thin service page for the third. So the AI learns nothing about you while the homeowner is forming an opinion — and by the time they ask the ready question, it recommends whoever taught it something.

WHAT WE CHANGE

None of This Is Magic. It Is a Checklist.

And most of it lifts your regular Google rankings at the same time. There is almost no version of this work that only pays off in one place.

Answer Real Questions in Real Words.

Build the page around the question a homeowner actually asks, then answer it in the first two sentences. AI pulls short, direct passages. Buried answers do not get pulled.

#

Put Numbers on the Page.

Price ranges. Timelines. Square footage. Years in business. Jobs completed. Specific claims get quoted. Vague ones get skipped.

Fix Your Google Business Profile.

AI leans hard on it for local questions. Categories, services, hours, photos, description. Your primary category is the highest-leverage field on the profile, and most contractors have it set wrong.

Get More Reviews. Reply to Them.

Review text is the richest plain-language proof about your business anywhere on the internet, and AI reads all of it. Volume and recency both count.

Get Mentioned Somewhere That Is Not Your Site.

Directories, local news, supplier pages, association listings, partners. Outside mentions carry weight because anybody can say anything on their own website.

Make the Site Readable by a Machine.

Real headings, clean structure, schema markup, fast pages. Nothing critical trapped inside an image or a slideshow. Sites built before 2023 usually fail right here.

Build Real Service-Area Pages.

One per city you actually work in, with real detail. Not twelve copies of the same page with the city name swapped. That trick stopped working years ago.

THE TEN-MINUTE TEST

Do Not Take Our Word for It. Go Find Out.

Open ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google. Type these three, using your city and your trade.

"Who are the best [your trade] in [your city]?"

"I need a [your service] in [your city], budget around [your average job size] — who should I call?"

"Is [your business name] a good [your trade] in [your city]?"

It Names You.

Good. Now check whether it described you correctly. Wrong services and a wrong service area cost you jobs quietly.

It Names Your Competitors.

Go read what those companies published that you did not. That is the whole gap, sitting right there in front of you.

It Has Never Heard of You.

The most common result. Also the most fixable. It means the internet does not contain enough clear information about your business for a machine to repeat.

Write down what you get. That is your starting score.

THE HONEST PART

Do Not Blow Up Your Marketing Over This.

AI search is growing fast. But for most contractors the phone still rings from Google, the map pack, and Local Services Ads. This is not a reason to stop what works. It is a reason to ADD a layer.

And getting named is not getting paid. AI puts your business in the answer. It does not follow up on the estimate or pick up the phone while you are on a job. That part is still on you — or on the systems we build for you.

Want to Know What AI Says About You Today?

We run an AI visibility check: we ask ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google's AI the exact questions your customers are asking, record who gets named, and hand you the list of what is missing. If you came up empty on the ten-minute test, that is exactly what it is for.
